There`s alot to be said about the power of a line, a line can connect people through communication and bridge gaps between communities on highway roads or move people to act out their desires through humou¸r, a simple straight line is drawn across a board, its a commonplace thing but what does its weight represent to the equivilant mass of an obeject or the weight it has on society as a whole, it being about paint at the same time, the texture, the thickness compared to the one above it which has two thin intersecting lines which almost seem to smash into one another breaking illusion

The quest for man`s image of perfection an olympian athelete works himself into a frenzy, on the eve of the Samhain and inkantation is made under the strobing lights and the sun.

Filmed in super 16mm at the Paradis strip bar:
Goin’ Ape" is the story of a painter’s plight as he attempts to transcend every day life by drowning himself in alcohol in an effort to escape the guilt he feels for a failing marriage. He is soon immersed in a chaotic world of drugs porn and violence and becomes subject to the will of miscreant opportunists who he approaches to make a film, jaded with the notion that filmmakers make money, who aim to profit from his brute strength in a bare knuckles boxing match. Exhausted by his fragile mental state, Ape becomes an easy target for those who would prefer to force him into the corrupt world of violence rather than cultivate his artistic growth.
The all mighty dollar is the ruling agent in this "wrong side of the tracks film", in which class levels are formally drawn between the rich and the poor. The destitution in which Ape finds himself, is exemplified by seedy bars, garbage strewn streets, abandoned cars and strung out junkies. The characters around him are all driven to the edge; some lovin’ it, some devoured by it. Ape himself is too apathetic to care. However, things begin to get out of hand as his past begins to confront him. Those who have been close to him, such as his wife, turn against him and he is left entirely to the mercy of those he meets. Ape undergoes a change form introvert to paranoid delusional and without the "who’s who" of the street to keep him alive; the most recent people in his life become his only saving grace.
As a metaphor for his emotional loss, his soul, which is twisted and coagulated, manifests itself externally, after he is almost pummeled to death. Now in the guise of a hideously deformed beast, Ape’s acts become beautiful as he seeks vengeance in an attempt to save the life of a girl he met who was looking for the back door of a bar.

Using various film manipulation techniques like in film works of Kenneth Anger, Maya Deren, and Bruce Connor, the filmakers proceeded to hand tint, skratch and optically print footage they shot throughout the U.S and Canada over a ten year span of working in and out of the film industry after graduating from Concordia University where they studied their trade. In their film "Streaks in the Mirror" they had the pleasure of working with people in the B.C film industry to bring the project together and received completion funding through the National Film Board of Canada.

“Cerce: Last Caress” is a short-film compilation heavy on Addams Family fashion, eerie Rob Zombie aesthetics, and the type of staccato editing that causes epileptic seizures.
“All in the Family” follows two bickering, female Manson Family wannabes into the ultimate act of sibling rivalry. “Lil' Star Duster,” a psychedelic road trip slinking through Nevada casinos, Hollywood tourist landmarks, and Arizona deserts, is the most striking of the shorts. Animated babes, ringed fingers, burlesque dancers, and garish neon signs lace this peyote-drenched, “Natural Born Killers” styled coffin ride down the Highway to Hell. We're also provided with a creepy, ex-girlfriend-on-the-rampage psycho-drama called “Streaks in the Mirror,” then shown how the short was re-edited into a rock video (Mr. Underhill's “Killer Creature Double Feature”). There are respites from the horror imagery, like a visual ode to Vancouver's Blinding Light Cinema, and “Let's Do Lunch,” a blunt observation of phony social rituals.
If you take your entertainment jet black as a cemetery stroll, “Cerce: Last Caress” is sure to enchant with its macabre bag of grotesque images, dark humor, and raw social commentary. However, if you're more into Reese Witherspoon than Vampira, and dig Donny Osmond over Danzig, look elsewhere.

"Ascention" screened at Cannes film festival short film corner 2006 (28:00)
A young couple plays out their daily routine. The man in the relationship takes a hit of Heroin and the viewer is transported into a world of illusion following the sacrifice of the female character insinuated in a scene reminiscent of Hitchcock's rope where the voice of the mail character is heard while his two co-horts ponder upon the waning eclipsing moon.

Performance piece in a Montreal back alley.
In the style of Ginsberg's urban attacks on society Toly A.K. takes jabs at everyone while eating from the ripe fruit which tempted Adam in Eden. A sense of the absurd is evenly distributed throughout. You come away left with a sense that in the midst of gunfire we are iron coated with words.

Shot at the Vancouver Aquarium, sea life becomes the metaphor for human engagement in modern day life. Separated through a sheet of glass, the viewer is transported into a world where the sublime beauty of majestic whales portrayed is distorted into abstract forms of video distortions making the viewer not only aware he's watching a picture but challenging them to face their own isolation through the entrapment of the whales.

Enter a world where the television dictates the commonplace into psychotic reactions in people unable to distinguish screen violence from everyday life, where pop culture breeds mankind to feed of its own envy and greed, wanton of that Hummer, wanton of the innocent girl and escape is too far from the depraved barrel of the militant politician.
"The End" (15:00)
Through the advent of commercialization on large scale through television, the viewer is transported through time circa 1950 B/W through to color found footage hand crafted with our tarnished of our modern age, a zombie stumbles about, undead in the world of the living, fumbling about his would be life, unable to escape his conditioning even in death, distraught with the notion of not being able to associate with the things that meant something to him when living, like love, the perfect tan, his 4 x 4 sport SUV.
